Eligibility: Scholarships available to New Hampshire residents whose parent(s) died as a result of overseas military service. Certain other conditions apply. Award amount: up to $1,000 per year. Application: Contact Judith Knapp at the N.H. Postsecondary Education Commission.

Adult Aid Program (Grants and Loans)

Eligibility: New Hampshire residents who are independent students; preference given to single parents with little or no postsecondary education or training. Awards are need-based and portable to other New England states. Award amount: Up to $500 per academic term. Application: Deadline is Aug. 15 for fall term; Dec. 15 for spring term; and May 15 for summer term. Contact NHCF or visit www.nhcf.org.

Student Aid Program (Scholarships, Grants and Loans)

Eligibility: New Hampshire residents planning to enroll in undergraduate or graduate programs at accredited two-year or four-year colleges, universities or vocational schools; students must demonstrate financial need. Additional requirements for certain funds. Awards are portable to other New England states. Award amount: $100 to $2,500 annually. Application: Deadline is third Friday in April. Career Aid to Technical Students (CATS)

Eligibility: Traditional-age New Hampshire residents (under age 24) planning to enroll full-time or part-time in a program that does not lead to a four-year degree. Traditional two-year academic.programs, vocational-technical degrees and licensing programs are all considered. Awards are need-based and portable to other New England states. Award amount: $100-$2,500 annually. Application: Deadline is the last Friday in June. Contact NHCF or visit website at www.nhcf.org.

Emergency Student Aid Program (Grants and Loans)

Eligibility: New Hampshire residents enrolled at least half-time, with preference given to students closest to graduation. Awards are need-based and portable to other New England states. Award amount: One-time awards up to $1,000. Application: Awards made year-round. Contact NHCE

Eligibility: Rhode Island residents enrolled at least half-time in postsecondary programs leading to degrees or certificates. Students must demonstrate financial need. Awards are portable throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. Award amount: $300 to $1,400 annually. Application: Priority deadline is March 1. Contact RIHEAA.

CollegeBoundfund Academic Promise Scholarship

Eligibility: Rhode Island residents enrolled full time in postsecondary programs leading to degrees or certificates. Applicants must be high school graduating seniors who demonstrate financial need and demonstrate academic promise as evidenced by SAT or ACT scores. Awards are portable to any Title IV eligible institution. Award amount: $2,500 per year, renewable for three years. Application: Free Application for Federal Student Aid; Priority deadline is March 1. Contact: RIHKAA.
