Caudron reproduction
Flight Journal, Feb 1999 by Jones, Geoffrey P
The 1998 Resea du Sport de l'Air Rally was held at Epinal airport in the Vosges region of eastern France between July 24 and 26, and it broke all records with nearly 1,000 aircraft flying in from all over Europe.
The rally's star attraction was the debut of Jean Noan's accurate Caudron JN760-C1.01 "Cyclone" fighter reproduction. The Caudron 760 was a development of the Caudron 714, and Noan chose it because original drawings and documentation were available. Project planning started in 1980; work on the steeltube fuselage started in 1987; and the construction of the wooden wing began in June 1993. The undercarriage was "cannibalized" from a Nord 1101 Noralpha, and its 650hp Snecma 12T engine was taken from a Dassault Flamant. Between 22,000 and 25,000 hours were expended on the project. -Geoffrey P. Jones
