A tip of the wings to the Super Hornet
Flight Journal, Aug 2000
First awarded in 1911, the National Aeronautic Association Collier Trophy is the USA's most prized aeronautics honor, and Boeing's F/A-18E/F Super Hornet was chosen as its 1999 recipient.
Many regard this multi-mission strike fighter as the most capable and survivable carrier-based combat aircraft. Among the tactical missions it can be used for are air superiority, fighter escort, close air support, day/night precision strikes and all-weather attacks. The Super Hornet also has an unlimited angle of attack that allows exceptional maneuverability in combat and a flight-control system that automatically compensates for damage or parts failure.
