Aircraft Engine Historical Society formed

Flight Journal, Apr 2002 by White, Graham

On September 19, 2001, in Huntsville, Alabama, the Aircraft Engine Historical Society (AEHS) was formed. Its founders aimed to foster an appreciation of the people, art and science associated with aircraft engine development, manufacture and use.

The AEHS publishes Torque Meter-journal of the Aircraft Engine Historical Society. Each quarterly edition features: editorials by well-known writers; articles on all types of aircraft engines and the aircraft they powered; technical reports about the Reno Air Races; information about member activities; rare, high-quality photographs and more. The AEHS also maintains an informative and interesting website: www.enginehistory.org.

One AEHS aim is to preserve and act as a repository for aircraft-engine material that has survived scrapping binges. This activity includes photographs, overhaul manuals, technical papers, engineering reports and operational information. It also benefits aircraft-engine restorers through networking, articles in Torque Meter, seminars, the website and advice and counsel from others who have "been there."

The AEHS is a nonprofit, educational and historical society open to the public.

Charter memberships are available. For mor information, contact Kimble D. McCutcheon, President, the Aircraft Engine Historical Society, Inc., P.O. Box 278, Brownsboro,
