Russian aircraft at The Air Museum "Planes of Fame"
Flight Journal, Jun 2003
Russian aircraft will be featured at a special event at The Air Museum "Planes of Fame" at the Chino Airport in California on May 3, 2003, beginning at 10 a.m. with a historical seminar on Russian aircraft and, weather permitting, will conclude with a warbird flight demonstration.
Among the anticipated aircraft will be a "Planes of Fame" MiG-15 jet fighter and "Big Panda," a large Antonov An-2 Colt utility biplane from the 3rd Pursuit Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force that is based at the Cable Airport in Upland, California. The MiG-15 earned a reputation as an outstanding fighter plane during the Korean War, while the An-2 is probably the largest single-engine biplane to be produced in quantity. The An-2 might appear to be a relic, but it is actually a post-WW II design that is still in production and in service around the world.
