Doe v. Hilton, La., Rapides Parish 9th Jud. Dist. Ct., No. 189,486, Mar. 22, 2002.

Doe, 15, was performing community service at a community center as part of a court sentence. She was instructed to assist Bass, an inmate who was a trustee working at the community center. Bass allegedly sexually assaulted Doe. As a result, she suffered posttraumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, and sleeping disorders. Her therapy expenses totaled about $3,400.

Doe filed suit against the city, alleging it was negligent in allowing Bass to work unsupervised at the community center.

In a bench trial, the court awarded plaintiff approximately $153,400 in damages.
