Darton Trojan school

Air Classics, Sep 1999

Bill Anders, former Apollo VIII astronaut, graduated from Darton Aviation's Spring 1998 NAA T-28 Trojan Training Ground School. Bill had purchased a T-28B and sought out "the best transition training available" for the T-- 28. Anders said he selected the company because of the Darton's "high quality" and reputation of professional results.

Darton's next T-28 Trojan Training Ground School will be conducted at the Carlsbad Inn and Cinema Air Jet Center in California on 6-10 November. Darton expects attendees from all over the world for the class. Over 200 students have graduated the Darton course.

Darton pioneered the five-day school for civilian pilots making the transition to owning and operating the T-28. The FAA requires that civilian T-28 pilots qualify for and receive a Letter of Authorization (LOA). The LOA is a form of type-rating for high horsepower propeller-driven ex-military aircraft. The Darton school is FAA approved and complies with curriculum requirements for LOA training. Class size is limited to 15 students. Flight training is available separately at additional cost. For more information, contact Darton Aviation at 2380 Camino Vida Roble, Building J&K, Carlsbad, CA 92009; or call (800) 713-2786. Additional information is also available through Darton's website at www.darton-international.com.
