Vixen airborne

Air Classics, Nov 2000

The world's only airworthy de Havilland Sea Vixen made a 40minute flight from Swansea Airport to Bournemouth-Hurn Airport in England on 19 May. The unusual twin-boom Royal Navy aircraft was flown by ex-Luftwaffe test pilot Sepp Pauli. Britain's CAA had given the aircraft, serial XP924/G-CVIX, a one-time ferry permit.

Owned by Gwyn Jones's de Havilland Aviation, three engineers are now working on the plane in hopes of obtaining a Permit to Fly. The aircraft is currently finished in bright red and yellow target drone colors (fortunately, it was not expended in a missile shot) and the craft will probably be refinished in Royal Navy markings.
