CAF PT-19 destroyed

CAF PT- 19 DESTROYED

Confederate Air Force Fairchild PT-19A N58123 was destroyed at approximately 2:50 pm on 14 April at Midland International Airport, Texas. Pilot Roy green was killed and passenger Capt. Manfred Aust, an instructor pilot at Sheppard AFB, sustained minor injuries. He was with the T-37 crew that was participating in CAF Open Cockpit Day activities. The airplane, which was assigned to the High Sky Wing of the CAF, had been with the fleet for approximantely two years. Currently, the CAF has three other PT-19s in the fleet. One aircraft is in service with the Oklahoma Wing and the two others are in various stages of restoration.
