Thud at Yanks

Adding to a growing jet collection

Yanks Air Museum at Chino, California, has been making significant additions for the collection of vintage jets. The most recent acquisition is in the form of two Republic F-105 Thunderchiefs. "We got the last two Thuds at Davis-- Monthan AFB," said Ron Blondell. "We are keeping one aircraft in storage and we will have the other on display at the museum. It is a significant aircraft with lots of Vietnam War history and numerous battle damage repairs."

The museum has also acquired two A-7s and two A-6s. "With the A-6s, I would like to appeal to readers who might know where parts are. Parts for some of these jets have become even rarer than parts for WWII fighters. We need wings and canopies for the A-6s and also nose gear for our T-38s. We would love to hear from readers that might have leads on these components so we can complete the aircraft for exhibition." Ron can be reached at (909) 597-1734.
