CIA invaders

Air Classics, Feb 2003 by Blair, Morgan

I enjoyed your series on the Douglas Invaders. My father, LCDR W.C. "Bud" Moessmer was a contract pilot for the Central Intelligence Agency. After serving in WWII and Korea as a Navy fighter pilot, he later went to work for the CIA during 1964-65.

Among other places, he was sent to the African Congo to train pilots. They flew T-28s, B-26s, C-47s, C-46s, and other types. The T-28s came directly from Pensacola, Florida, and were delivered by C-130. Most of the other pilots were Cubans that had participated in the Bay of Pigs invasion.
