Twin Mustang update

Flying restoration is making excellent progress

At Anoka, Minnesota, C&P Aviation is moving for- ward with their ground-up restoration of North American F-82E Twin Mustang s/n 46-256 reports Wally Erickson. This aircraft had last been flown by NACA as 133. NACA received the aircraft during January 1950 and kept it in service until March 1954 . when it was retired with the designation EF-82E (the E indicating it had been modified for test work). The Twin J Mustang was almost scrapped but it was rescued by Walter Soplata and moved to his fabled collection at f Newbury, Ohio, where it remained until 1995 when it was sold to David Arnold in Britain. The aircraft was assigned the British civil registration G-BXEI but the plane never left the United States. It was soon sold to Amjet Aircraft Corporation for addition into the huge new Polar Aviation Museum and became N142AM. However, the owner closed the museum after just a short period of operation and the majority of the aircraft were put up for sale. The Twin Mustang was purchased by C&P and, as can be seen in the photos, work is progressing nicely on what will become a very rare flying Warbird.
