WILDCAT ACCIDENT

Air Classics, Jul 2004

FM-2 is down but not out

On 10 April, Howard Pardue was landing at Burnet, Texas, for the Bluebonnet Airshow in his General Motors FM-2 Wildcat N5HP. On roll -out, a brake locked and the aircraft swerved off the runway into soft mud and a sloping embankment. The Wildcat went onto its back and Howard was trapped in the cockpit for 45-min until he could be freed. Fortunately, he suffered only minor injuries. Since the Wildcat went over at fairly slow speed, the damage to the airframe was a lot less than it could have been and we are sure Howard will have the classic Wildcat back in the air after repairs are undertaken.
