Royal Air Force retires a famous jet

At the end of June, the Royal Air Force retired its last few remaining Canberra Mk. 9s. These aircraft were utilized for years in the recon role and the plane was much admired for the number of cameras it could carry in the former bomb bay along with its capability to achieve high altitudes. The aircraft had just recently returned from their last combat deployment in Afghanistan and made a farewell airshow appearance at RAF Waddington in early June. Unlike the American government, the Canberras will be put up for sale to the highest bidder in flying condition.
