Connecticut Nursing News, Mar/Apr 2004
The Connecticut Nurses' Foundation (CNF) has started on online, ongoing auction as a fund-raising activity that will fund additional nursing scholarships and research awards.
CNF will be using "America's Auctions"-a new and exciting Internet auction site. America's Auctions has virtually eliminated commission fees for CNF, which results in a larger net settlement and donation to the Foundation.
"We are excited about using technology to enhance the work of the Foundation and appreciate Rita Bonczek's donating the listing of items through her business, which is affiliated with America's Auction," said Tim Squires, president of CNF. Rita Bonczek is secretary of the Foundation and has served as silent auction chairperson for the past few years.

Connecticut Nurses' Foundation Is ...
Organized and operated to support the Connecticut Nurses' Association's efforts to enhance nursing and health care. In this regard, the Foundation carries out research, scientific, educational, literary and charitable activities on behalf of the Association. As an 1RS 501(c)(3) organization, the Foundation may solicit tax-deductible contributions and grants from individuals, corporations and foundations to accomplish such activities.
Since 1988, the Connecticut Nurses' Foundation has given over $40,000.00 in scholarships and research grants, including the Sheila Packard Memorial awards, to nurses and nursing students. This is a record of great achievement.
In 2002 and 2003, the Foundation expanded its scholarship sponsors to include the Hartford Healthcare Credit Union, the Arthur L. Davis Publishing Company, the Independent Order of Oddfellows-Townsend Lodge #89 and Procare USA. As a result of a donation by the Connecticut Association for the Continuity of Care, the CNF Board of Trustees recently created the first new, ongoing scholarship offered by the CNF. This year we will award our first scholarship recognizing staff working in the home care setting.
