Intro: Why the emphasis on Hispanics?

Growth Strategies, Jan 2002

To those of us who are familiar with and have been writing about the topic for many years, the rise of Hispanic America is not news (although the numbers from the 2000 Census still came as a shocking reminder). Hispanics are now already the nation's largest minority group, numbering more than 35 million and comprising over 13% of total US population.

Projections for-future growth are astounding: 40 million by 2006, 50 million by 2015, continuing up through the 21" century. The Census Bureau predicts that 1 in every 4 Americans will be Hispanic by 2050, growing to 1 in every 3 Americans by 2100. Most Americans are still unaware that the future of America cannot be separated from the future of Hispanic America.
