From the Executive Director

Military Medicine, Summer 2004 by Sanford, Frederic G

With this mailing of the Newsletter and Journal, you are also receiving the Preliminary Program for our 110th Annual Meeting, Nov. 14-19, in Denver, Colorado. The members of the Program Planning Committee with the leadership of LTG James Peake, BG Sheila Baxter and COL Carry Norris have been working hard all year to plan a premier CME experience. I know you will agree when you review the program. So register now and avoid the rush.

Also July marks the advent of MILITARY MEDICINE on the web at www.amsus.org. Details can be found on the website and in the Journal. This is a new venture for us and I would appreciate your feed back as to ease of navigating, and usefulness to you in your work. After a year or two of experience with this technology, we will most likely offer the option of not receiving a hard copy of the journal as other academic associations have done. But for now, you will continue to receive your monthly journal in the mail as well as being able to view it on your computer screen.

This spring and summer we are saying good-bye to four of the seven members of our Executive Advisory Committee. Dr. Robert Roswell left his post as VA Under, Secretary for Health earlier this year and VADM Zimble, LTG Peake and VADM Cowan are retiring this summer.

On behalf of all our members, I want to thank them for their years of service to federal medicine and most specifically, to AMSUS. We wish them well. An interview with VADM Zimble will appear in the August issue of MILITARY MEDICINE. We all look forward to welcoming their successors at our meeting in Denver. Again, make your plans early for November and reap the benefit of the networking opportunities as well as the CME credits offered.
