Radio Control Boat Modeler, Apr 2005 by Higgins, Matt

Here it is: the one you've all been waiting for-our annual Buyers' Guide special issue! This year, it's stacked with tons of the exciting RC boats and cool equipment that you love and can't get enough of, but you might notice we've changed a few things. Some tweaks are subtle, and some are more significant (such as the addition of a ready-to-run (RTR) category). With all of the new RTR boats hitting the shelves and shaking up the water at the lake, it's only fitting that they receive their own category. Besides the new RTRs, we present a comprehensive list of kits, motors, engines, fuel, radios, servos, tools and much more! I bet by now most of you have already jumped ahead and are checking the hot new boats for 2005, but for those of you still here, here's what else we have in this issue:

SEND CLEAR SIGNALS

It's hard to think of anything that could lead to disaster more quickly than a malfunctioning radio system. Just the thought of a full-speed runaway makes me cringe. This article will take you through the crucial do's and don'ts of proper radio operation. Check it out to prevent a mistake that could cost you your boat.

Q&A WITH THE

Got questions? Well, we have answers! Even better, we called upon some top industry pros to lend their expertise. From straightforward to insightful, here are answers to the frequently asked questions you've always wanted addressed.

ARMED AND DANGEROUS

How do you make a great boat even better? Make it faster! I selected Traxxas's awesome RTR Villain EX-certainly no slouch out of the box-and took it to the extreme with a series of modifications that anyone can do. I couldn't believe how cool this twin-battery, twin-motor, deep-vee ended up. A one-of-a-kind paint job by airbrush-ace Josh Thiel didn't hurt matters, either. Flip to page 74 to see the results.

KEEP 'EM COMING

Let us know if you like what you're seeing in each issue. We look forward to each letter and email, and we rely on your input to help us produce the finest RC boat magazine available. Enjoy the issue!
