GNF Silent Auction coming your way this fall, The

Georgia Nursing, Aug-Oct 2000

The GNF Silent Auction is one of the major fund raising events sponsored by GNF. Proceeds from the silent auction are used to support specific activities of GNA and to support activities that advance nursing practice, education, and research in the State of Georgia.

The third annual Silent Auction will be held in conjunction with the annual GNA Meeting in October in Athens, Georgia. Jannell Knox, GNF Vice President and Chair of the Development Committee, is already working with the GNF Board of Trustees, staff, and GNA members in the Athens area to gather products and services to create a tempting array of items for you to bid on. Members of the Board of Trustees are expected to contribute 5 items each for the Silent Auction. Often they work with local shop owners, store managers, and others to make donations in the form of gift certificates, products, or special packages like a golf trip or theater tickets or the like

We would welcome your participation in the development of our "market" items. There are lots of things you could contribute. Homemade craft items are always welcome. Many of you are quite skilled and have products to offer that others would find of value. Nurses in Georgia are not only good at what they do professionally, they also are very accomplished painters, woodworkers, quilters, and the like. Nurses also know lots of people in their community. Perhaps your hairdresser would like to contribute a basket of products. Maybe one of your local merchants would donate products or gift certificates as a form of advertising. Donations to the Silent Auction are tax deductible.

The Silent Auction will be followed next year by a signature GNF find raising event. Each of these activities is part of an evolving overall plan to raise sufficient funds to meet the mission of GNF. Scholarships, research awards, the Center for Nursing, continuing education... the list is long and not yet finished.

The Silent Auction needs you!! Send us your items. If you have questions call GNA headquarters. They will be glad to help you submit your items and receive proper recognition for them. The strength and the success of an organization are evidenced in the contributions of its members. Thank you for helping us make this the best Silent Auction yet.
