EUROCRYPTO CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS

Knudsen, Lars, ed. Advances in Cryptology - Eurocrypt 2002: International Conference on the Theory and Applications of Cryptographic Techniques, Proceedings. Springer-Verlag, 175 Fifth Ave., New York NY 10010 USA. 2002. 545 pp. $85.00.

The 21st annual European conference, sponsored by the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR), was held in cooperation with the Coding and Crypto Group at the Technical University of Eindhoven in The Netherlands.

The number of papers submitted totaled 122 and due to the high quality of submissions, the reviewing process was a challenging task. At least three members of the program committee reviewed each paper and when a committee member had co-authored a paper, it was reviewed by at least five other members. Subsequently, with many good submissions rejected, 33 papers were accepted for presentation at the conference.

Following are the categories of papers and the number in each one: Crypt-analysis I-3, Public-Key Encryption - 3, Information Theory & New Models - 3, Implementational Analysis - 3, Stream Ciphers - 3, Digital Signatures I - 2, Cryptanalysis II - 2, Key Exchange - 3, Modes of Operation - 2, Digital Signatures II - 3, Traitor Tracking & Id-Based Encryption - 2, Multiparty and Multicast - 2, and Symmetric Cryptology - 2.

Two invited talks discussed AES and the Wide Trail Design Strategy, and Rethinking PKI: What's Trust Go to Do with It?

These presentations by leading researchers, scientists, and academics from universities and research organizations around the world deserve your close attention.
