Urban transport and the environment for the 21st century

The Fifth Conference in this series, under the title Urban Transport 99, was held in Rhodes, Greece, during September 1999. Papers were presented on a variety of issues related to urban transportation and its links with inter-urban transportation. There was an emphasis on the integration and optimisation of interaction between different modes and systems. City planning in relation to transportation was included. At this conference, studies on environmental issues in cities were much more prominent than at previous conferences. The next conference will be held in July at Cambridge University, UK.
