Vehicle Emissions and Fuel Standards Review

The National Transport Commission's Land Transport Environment Committee (LTEC) has released a status report on the Vehicle Emissions and Fuel Standards Review. The report puts forward LTEC's proposed advice to government and reflects announcements recently made by the Commonwealth on fuel standards and the deferral of Euro IV diesel emission standards.

The report is in three parts:

* The status of LTEC's consideration of the key recommendations in relation to the Vehicle Emissions and Fuel Standards Review.

* The proposed approach to addressing a range of issues around the adoption of the Euro 5 heavy duty emission standards.

* The next steps in finalising the Vehicle Emissions and Fuel Standards.

The report can be accessed at the NTC's web site (www.ntc.gov.au) by following the links through Publications and then Other Reports.

Future road pricing options

Three reports from the NTC provide background information on the Third Heavy Vehicle Pricing Determination, which were used in the series of National Workshops held during November, 2004. They focus on possibilities and options for incremental mass distance charging.

The reports can be accessed under 'News Desk' at the NTC's web site (www.ntc.gov.au).
