Nurses can search on-line for work

Registered nurses no longer need to pound the pavement to find work now that the first on-line system linking nurses with employers across Canada is up and running.

The nurses@work job bank database, a partnership between Industry Canada's National Graduate Register and the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA), allows nurses from coast to coast to search for work right from their computers. It was developed in response to the growing shortage of registered nurses in Canada.

The service, accessible through CNA's website, allows RNs to post resumes that can be updated any time, research employers across Canada, and access career information such as licensing and VISAScreen information.

The free service is restricted for use to RNs. Employers must pay to post job advertisements and be included in an employer profile section.
