The member was given a reprimand and ordered to take a course in medication administration by a deadline, failing which she will be suspended."

"The Professional Conduct Committee made a finding of unskilled practice and professional misconduct against member Robin Karvonen registration #63,133 for doing the following while under supervised practice pursuant to a previous Order of the Professional Conduct Committee: altered a physician's order without permission; gave a patient a medication orally, contrary to the physician's order; failed to notify a physician of the change in condition of a patient; catheterized a patient without first obtaining a physician's order; failed to perform the catheterization in accordance with the employer's written protocol; and failed to consult with his supervisor in the supervised practice regarding the condition of his patient and the member's treatment of that patient. The Professional Conduct Committee ordered a reprimand and suspension effective Dec. 18, 2002 pending completion of a course in professional ethics, following which the member must successfully complete 1,320 hours of closely supervised practice with a requirement of satisfactory performance evaluations addressing many specific areas of nursing practice. Failure to comply with the Order will result in further suspension."
