Alberta RN, Jun 2003
THE Registered Nurses Association of British Columbia has bestowed the Award of Distinction in Nursing on former Alberta RN Dr. Janet L. Storch. The award recognizes her contributions in nursing education and health services administration. A colleague notes that "she has been instrumental in facilitating quality nursing practice through her commitment and attention to the role of nursing ethics."
Storch was instrumental in establishing the Provincial Health Ethics Network of Alberta and currently sits on the National Council on Ethics in Human Research. She is the former CNA Ethics Scholar in Residence and is recognized for her leadership during the 1997 and 2002 revisions to the CNA Code of Ethics.
The award, which is presented to nurses who have a broad base of nursing experience in more than one domain of nursing and are recognized experts, was presented to Dr. Storch on April 23, 2003. Dr. Storch received her baccalaureate at the University of Alberta in 1962 and now resides in Victoria.
