Letter to the editor

Alberta RN,  Jun 2003

Hello there,

My 12 year-old daughter wrote this for me after hearing stories of my life working in isolated First Nations Communities for several years. I think it is a lovely tribute to us as nurses, whether our wings are literal or figurative. Arlene Garcia, RN Lac La Biche, AB

ANGEL

She flies like an angel,

Her wings touch the sky.

She helps little children,

That they shall not cry.

When they come into the world,

It is her that they see.

She's smiling and laughing,

Her face glows with glee.

She travels around

Saving so many lives.

When people are dying,

She keeps them alive.

This is her blessing.

This is her curse.

Her job as an angel.

Her job as a nurse.

By Elizabeth Garcia, 12 years old.
