Canada to Credential Privacy Specialists

The Canadian Access and Privacy Association (CAPA) and the Canadian Association of Professional Access and Privacy Administrators (CAPAPA) are working to create a new occupational certification for professionals who work on maintaining the privacy and security of individual information.

The CAPA-CAPAPA Professional Standards and Certification Project (PSCP) will establish Information Access and Protection of Privacy (IAPP) specialists as a recognized profession in Canada. The project will develop professional standards, establish a certification model, and create a governance group capable of implementing the new credentialing program.

CAPA is a national nonprofit organization whose goals are to promote knowledge and understanding of access and privacy laws in Canada. Its membership is composed of individuals in both the public and private sectors with concerns for the effective and responsive administration of Canada's Access to Information/ Freedom of Information and privacy laws.

CAPAPA is dedicated to the ongoing professional development, education, and expanded expertise of individuals who work in the field of information access and protection of privacy.
