KSNA Call for Nominations

The Nominating Committee is responsible for selection of the KSNA Ballot for the Board of Directors positions and the Nominating Committee.

Below is a list of KSNA positions which must be filled in 2006, according to Bylaws Article VIII, sections 1, 3 and 4 and Article XVI. A biographical questionnaire, including consent to serve, needs to be completed by each candidate. District Presidents have biographical/consent forms, and additional forms are available from KSNA. Deadline for consents to serve is April 30, 2006.

KSNA Elected Positions to be Filled in 2006: KSNA Ballot

* President-Elect and ANA Delegate-at-large (4-year term)

* Secretary (2-year term)

* 2 members of the Board of Directors (3-year terms)

* 3 members of the Nominating Committee (1-yearterm)

* 4 members of the Council on Economic & General Welfare (2-year term)

* 3 members of the Council on Economic and General Welfare Nominating Committee (1-yearterm)

Members of the 2006 KSNA Nominating Committee: Terri Johnson, Chair; Linda Bitner; Linda Luzier; Mary Holland; and Duane Jaeger.

Notice to KSNA Members

2006 Dues Deductibility

The Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 1993 requires KSNA to notify members that the percentage of KSNA/ANA dues which is allocated to lobbying expenses is not deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense for federal income tax purposes. KSNA estimates that the non-deductible portion of 2006 KSNA/ANA dues which are allocable to lobbying expenses is 15 percent. The deductible amount is $230.

The Art of Nursing

"Nursing is an art.... the finest of Fine Arts" stated the mother of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale. As a part of the Decade of the Nurse in Kansas, a call is being sent out for entries in a contest celebrating the Art of Nursing.

All Kansas Nurses, nursing students and the public are invited to submit original creations depicting the "art of nursing". These may be in the form of poetry, short stories, photography, sculpture, needlework or artwork in any media,

Selected entries will be displayed at the Annual Kansas State Nurses Convention, October 2006, in Kansas City, where a People's Choice Award will be presented. Top entries will be show cased in the November/December issue of the Kansas Nurse magazine. All submissions will receive a certificate of appreciation.

Rules:

1. Entries must be original creations by a RN, registered or retired, student nurses, or members of the public residing in Kansas.

2. Entries must be received at KSNA headquarters, (1208 Tyler, Topeka, KS 66612-1735) electronically, by mail, or parcel post, no later than September 15, 2006. In the case of artwork, you may submit good quality photos of the piece for the selection process.

3. Each entry must be identified with artist or author's name, address and phone number.

4. All entries must be available for display at the KSNA Convention in Kansas City in October, and for publication of written work or photos of artwork in the Kansas Nurse.

5. Each artist or author will be responsible for retrieval of their creations at the conclusion of the 2006 KSNA convention

6. KSNA is not responsible for lost or damaged items.
