Evangelism strategy gets green light
Lutheran, The, Oct 2001
With a 965-9 vote, the assembly adopted an evangelism strategy that invites the entire church to reflect on evangelism, inviting individual congregations to see and establish their own evangelism visions.
Synods will gather the plans and help congregations implement them. These visions and those from synods and churchwide units will be presented to the 2003 assembly.
An amendment was added to the strategy, calling for a task force by 2002 to develop the comprehensive evangelism strategy. At least 50 percent of that group will include pastors and lay people from growing congregations, representing variety in worship styles, membership size, geographic settings and ethnicities.
