Lightning strikes Jesus actor
Lutheran, The, Jan 2004
Poor Mel Gibson. And poor Jesus. It's not enough that Gibson has received bad press and resistance from film companies to release his movie The Passion of Christ. Now his Jesus was hit by lightning. And his assistant director, Jan Michelini, was struck by lightning twice while filming in Italy.
The second time Michelini was struck he was holding an umbrella near Jim Caviezel, who plays Jesus. Both were hit, but not seriously injured, though smoke reportedly came from Jesus' ears.
If lightning doesn't strike again, the film will be released early this year by Newmarket Films, an independent distributor.
