This collection centers on Barbara Burr Hubbs's research on John A. Logan, Civil War General, lawyer, and politician from Jackson County Illinois. In addition to original letters from Logan and research notes about him, there also are research notes about his family and relatives, material about the first Memorial Day service in which he participated, and artifacts relating to him. The remainder of the collection consists of correspondence between Barbara Burr Hubbs and others assisting in her research, manuscripts of articles by Hubbs, broadsides, photographs, and news clippings.
Ibata, David
Collection of Cairo Racial Strife, 1969-1975

Research notes and transcripts of interviews document Daily Egyptian student editor-in-chief David lbata's research into race relations in Cairo, Illinois during the early 1970s. The interviews, conducted in 1975, are of various Cairo and state civic leaders and politicians. Included are Mayor James B. Walder; Cairo NAACP President Preston Ewing; Rev. Larry Potts; and Lt. Governor Paul Simon. Also included in the collection is material gathered by Ibata from various pamphlets and circulars, as well as an incomplete run of the "Cairo News" section of the East St. Louis newspaper, The Monitor.
Ingersoll, Ezekiel J.

Diaries, record books, ledgers, and photographs document the activities of Civil War veteran, politician, and Southern Illinois Normal University Trustee Ezekiel Ingersoll. The diaries span the years 1886-1889 and 1920 and document Ingersoll's activities as well as his role with SINU. Of note among the ledgers is information on Carbondale voting records and city taxes.

Reports, minutes, and administrative files regarding education, visitors, programs, housing, and institutes document office of the Southwestern Regional Educational Director of the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union.
Jean, Charles A.
Selected Papers, 1927-1970
Collection 129; 4 boxes, 1 cu. ft.
The collection consists largely of correspondence between Jean and members of the Republican Party organization in Illinois. This includes a large number of letters from Senator Everett Dirksen and his special assistants, the Chairman of the Illinois Republican State Central Committee, state senators, state representatives, chairmen of each Southern Illinois Republican county central committee, and various other Republican state and county officials. The bulk of the correspondence is from 1959 to 1960 and concerns the 1960 national and local elections. Also included in the collection are lists of Republican County Chairpersons and delegates to conventions, election data, political broadsides, published matter, and news clippings.
