Easier image enhancement from TMSSequoia
Today, Jun 2000
TMSSequoia (800-944-7654/www.tmsinc. com) has upgraded its ScanFix image enhancement software. ScanFix 4.1 now offers flexible batch processing, and options for "drag and drop" capabilities, image centering and multi-page image fixes. The imaging software can open tiled and color images.
ScanFix 4.1 includes a batch processing engine and interface that provides a way to fix entire directories of images with only a few seconds of setup. The new version also provides flexibility in the file naming function for batch processing, plus the ability to generate multipage output files-so each page doesn't have to generate a separate file.
ScanFix is offered as a toolkit so that software developers can integrate these image features into custom processes and applications. It includes 16-shade scale to gray, panning, zooming and flying magnifier. With 4.1, mouse tools make it easier to compare images, side-by-side, before and after enhancement.
Now offering Twain data source support, users with a Twain scanner no longer have to scan with one application and fix with another, which means users can scan and fix in one operation.
ScanFix features operate totally in software-there is no need for additional image processing boards or hardware accelerators in the scanner. TMSSequoia claims that ScanFix image enhancement technology can improve OCR accuracy by 50% or more, and speed up the creation of cleaner images with smaller file sizes that can be stored and transferred efficiently.
