Remittance processing industry veteran John Black has joined BancTec (1-800BANCTEC / www.banctec.com) as director of product strategy for retail solutions. He is in charge of defining the strategy and future enhancements of BancTec's PayCourier Retail payment processing software platform.

Black is well known for his involvement in TAWPI and is a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from TAWPI's membership. He is the current chairman of the Texas TAWPI chapter and a former chairman of TAWPI's national board of directors.

"We are happy to have John on board and are excited about the expertise he brings to our product management team," said John Staedke, president and CEO of BancTec. "Having been on the customer side of the business, he understands their needs very well and adds valuable insight to BancTec's product planning process."

Black comes to BancTec from Wausau Financial Systems, where he served as a senior consultant to their customers on productivity, efficiency and cost analysis issues. Before Wausau, he was instrumental in the implementation of a wide variety of payment processing solutions at SBC Communications. During his 17 years at Southwestern Bell, Black provided staff and product support to remittance centers processing more than 18 million payments per month, and he coordinated the consolidation of eight Southwestern Bell remittance centers into two efficient centers. He also coordinated the implementation of a comprehensive, high-speed image-processing program that included archive modules and OPEX IEM interfaces.
