Data Capture of Forms and Unstructured Documents
Continuing the trend toward management of unstructured documents, Datacap (914366-0100 / www.datacap.com) has introduced Business Document capture system (BDOcs). Positioned to tackle the next-generation data capture requirements, Datacap BDOcs enables organizations to capture and scan critical business data from a wide variety of document types.
Datacap BDOcs extends OCR and forms processing beyond the realm of forms that have consistent recognition zone locations. Each document is assigned a unique "fingerprint" that gives the system a fast way to save its specific characteristics. Then, by combining zone recognition with rules-based dynamic template generation, BDOcs handles both simple, consistent forms, such as tax returns, insurance claims, and surveys, and highly variable documents (unstructured forms). such as invoices. orders, and shipping documents, all in a single package.
"Today's organizations need to capture information off paper documents faster and more accurately than ever," said Scott Blau, Datacap CEO. "BDOcs helps reduce the cost of that effort. Rather than buying a formsprocessing product for forms and 'unstructured forms' OCR package for invoices, BDOcs offers customers a single solution for both. Datacap's unique rules-based data capture approach enables organizations to focus on how to best manage and execute on strategic information rather than on the mechanics of data entry."
Built on the foundations of Datacap's input workflow product, Task Master, BDOcs offers users a processing environment that includes detailed statistics on operator and system productivity. security through log-in or network authentication, and a client/ server environment that is highly scaleable. BDOcs can run either in a standard software configuration or in a browser for distributed scanning and indexing.
