2) Helene Ferone and Jim Nugent from APTA were invited to the business meeting to talk about CPT coding. They described the use of codes for cardiac rehab (that Bob Huhn has been working on) and the code for peripheral vascular disease that is being developed. We need to develop a consensus for coding by physical therapists in our area of practice. A proposal requires a written description of the code and at least five supporting research articles. Full review typically requires 2.5 to 3 years. The most successful way to communicate is to email. Plan:
A task force will be set up by CSM 2001. Bob Huhn, Ellen Hillegass, Sue Scherer, Reed Humphrey, and Wendy Pugh volunteered or were nominated by members present.
