The preconference course in San Antonio was excellent. Sandy Cassady and Steve Tepper presented a course on the Examination and Treatment of Endurance Impairments that was attended by 25 participants. The course evaluations were very good and there was much energetic discussion of the topic and impairment related concerns for patient interventions to improve outcomes.
We are going to be presenting a preconference program in February 2002 on Pharmacological Interventions. It is in the early stages of preparation. Dr. Charles Ciccone has agreed to be our speaker and wants input from the Section in the development of the seminar. We will be cosponsoring with the Section on Geriatrics. We normally do not cosponsor courses but they are interested also and it will be more cost effective for our Section as well as draw from a large membership area.

We would encourage anyone involved with students to be available and willing to present or act as a mentor for cardiovascular and pulmonary issues. I recently presented the topic I presented in San Antonio, ICU Interventions, at the Illinois Student Conclave at Finch University, the Chicago Medical School. We want to reach out to students and help them become more interested and knowledgeable in our favorite area of PT practice.
