State news: Ohio

Nurse Practitioner, Apr 2000

After several years of legislative efforts, The Ohio Advanced Practice Nursing Coalition announced that the state legislature had finally passed a bill to provide prescriptive authority to NPs, clinical nurse specialists, and nurse midwives. This legislation provides authority for these health care providers to prescribe Schedule II to V drugs.

Prescriptive authority for nurse anesthetists was dropped during the compromise stage, although they were part of the original legislation.
