Editors note: The journal gets a new name

Neurology Report, Mar 2003 by Deutsch, Judith E

At the most recent meeting of the journal's Editorial Board held at the Combined Sections Meeting in Tampa, Florida, an important decision was made. The official journal of the Neurology Section of the American Physical Therapy Association will change its name from Neurology Report to the Journal of Neurologic Physical Therapy ([NPT). The decision to change the name of the journal was based on several reasons. First, it was felt that 'report' was not weighty enough to describe the contents of our publication. Second and most important, the previous name was not specific.

With the new name will come a new look. Our current cover has an action potential, which represents one aspect of who we are. The new cover, however, we hope will more accurately reflect our mission statement. At the Section Business Meeting we announced that we are looking for a new cover for the journal. With this Editorial I invite Section members to create and submit logos or concepts for a logo that represent the mission of the journal, which is stated below:

The Journal of Neurologic Physical Therapy strives to contribute to the development of theory, evidence, and the effective use of physical therapy for individuals with neurologic conditions. Included are articles related to, but not limited to examination, evaluation, prognosis, intervention, and outcomes that span the continuum from pathophysiology to ability. The journal contains original research as well as integration and interpretation from the diverse areas of study that contribute to the formulation of neurologic physical therapy.

We invite Section members to submit their logo or concept for the logo directly to the Editor by May 15, 2003. Entries will be reviewed and voted on with the intent of having a decision by the Annual Meeting of 2003. In the event that we have not identified a suitable logo, the time for accepting submissions will be extended.

Exciting news about the journal online will come in the June issue of 2003.
