Editor's introduction: Interprofessional training and collaboration

Teacher Education Quarterly, Fall 1999 by Nelson, Thomas

We at Teacher Education Quarterly and the California Council on the Education of Teachers are pleased to present this Fall 1999 issue around the theme "Interprofessional Training and Collaboration," guest-edited by Victoria B. Costa, Helen P. Taylor, and Sid Gardner of California State University, Fullerton. They have developed a thoughtfully researched, well organized collection of articles which challenge school practitioners and teacher educators alike to engage in collaborative relationships with interprofessional agencies and service-related professions in helping provide students and their families with the kinds of support necessary for the actualization of both academic and personal success. This issue focuses on the issues, theories, practices, and working models related to the forging of meaningful partnerships between schools, families, communities, social and health service agencies, and schools of education. We thank Vicki, Helen, Sid, and their collaborating authors for their combined effort and dedication in bringing about this special issue of our journal. We hope you will find the articles in this issue engaging and useful. Your comments and reactions, as well as your suggestions and contributions to future issues, are welcome as always.
