Nursing Editors Speak Out on Timely Topics

Ruth Laugliton, Editor International Journal of Palliative Nursing

The International Journal of Palliative Nursing (IJPN) aims to keep professionals informed of new developments by providing a forum for the publication of original and scholarly articles. Articles address all aspects of palliative nursing practice, education, management, and research. The journal encourages exploration of the relationship between theory and practice and the cross-fertilization of ideas between nurses involved in palliative care worldwide.

The scope of the journal reflects the development and expansion of palliative care in general and palliative nursing in particular. Consequently, it carries articles that address the needs of people facing any life-threatening illness at any stage of the disease continuum and who are cared for and supported in any care setting. It endorses and values inter-professional work and welcomes articles and correspondence from all professional groups.

IJPN is a peer-reviewed journal. Before starting to write a paper for us, especially if you have not written for publication before, it is best to discuss your ideas with me.

Please feel free to contact the editor on any matter concerning your article. Review articles should generally be approximately 2,000 to 3,000 words although this can be exceeded in special cases when agreed upon with the editor or when submitting original research. While it is very important that review articles be fully referenced, the total number of references should not normally exceed 30.

IJPN welcomes correspondence regarding published articles and any issues relating to palliative care nursing. We also publish short comment pieces and guest editorials and there are opportunities for reviewing articles and books.

Author guidelines are now published in most issues of the journal. They are also available from www. lnternurse.com or from the editor. Queries from authors are welcome. - Ruth Laughton, Editor, International Journal of Palliative Nursing, MA Healthcare Limited, St jude's Church, Dulwich Road, Herne Hill, London SE24 OPB.
