Managing Ethics in Business Organizations

Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences, Sep 2003 by Marche, Sunny

If you are a reader not involved in ethics research, but with an interest in the topic, you will likely skip over the technical statistical elements of the work. By the end of the book, you will want more anecdotal material and possibly further coverage from other parts of this literature. You might even disagree with some of the approaches and ideas. But you will come away with a better understanding of the questions and ideas in this important area. In some respects the title of the book is somewhat misleading since this is not just a business consideration. The vast majority of the topics discussed in this work apply to all organizations whether business, not-for-profit, governments, and even universities.

Reviewed by Sunny Marche, Ph.D., CMC. Sunny Marche is an associate professor in the Faculty of Management at Dalhousie University. He worked in the management consulting and venture capital industries for many years and has had occasion to consider dilemmas of business ethics in practice.
