Silent Auction results announced
Chronicle of the Early American Industries Association, Inc., The, Sep/Oct 2001 by Audly, Harry, Audly, Pat
We are pleased to announce that the Silent Auction gross proceeds at this year's EAIA Annual Meeting were $2,466. After paying the consignors their share, the EAIA received net prodeeds of $1,729.
This year's total of 103 items was an all time record for the Silent Auction. Gross was higher, but net was lower than last year as more items were placed on consignment rather than given as donations.
We wish to thank all those who placed items ir the auction, for without you there would be no program. We especially wish to thank those on the committee: Mac and Betty MacLachlan, Walt and Daisy Smith, Nell Semel, Bill McMillen, Skip Barshied, and those unnamed who lent a hand where needed.
A special thanks goes to Toby Hall, who follows up by sending out checks to the consignors after the meeting, and to Peter Hathaway, the previous chairman, for breaking us in on previous Silent Auctions and for his resource of previous forms to guide us. Best wishes Peter as our new president!
The timing for the setup and accounting for the Silent Auction in conjunction with the Cocktail Party, which precedes the Annual Dinner, places pressure on all the workers, especially on the bookkeeping chores. So again we wish to thank all those who took part in this event.
