New Officers and Board Members Named

NEW OFFICERS

Early this year First Vice President Phil Cannon informed us that he could no longer continue his position due to the increased intensity of his work schedule as a computer engineer. He asked if he could remain on EAIA's Board of Directors so that he could continue his work managing modern release of our information to membership and the public through our Web site. After approval by the executive committee, the board approved this change for him. I am really pleased that he will continue his valuable volunteer work with us.

Second Vice President Don Rosebrook has agreed to move on to Phil's position, and the board has approved it. He has chaired our nominating committee in the past and is current chairman of the membership committee. Don has taken an active role with our long range planning committee to help develop directions for growing our membership nationally. For our second Vice President, the board voted for and approved Bill Curtis. Bill has just completed an excellent three-year term as our secretary and was recently reelected to the board. He has also taken an active role with our long range planning committee. Our new secretary is Ken Culnan, who was elected by members present at the annual meeting in Wilmington, Delaware. Ken, a resident of Strasburg, Virginia, has been a regular participant in our annual meetings, tool tours, and Eastfield Summer Workshops.

THREE BOARD MEMBERS COMPLETE THEIR TERMS

I want to thank, Ken clay, Frank Kosmerl, and Lisa Reber, who have now completed their terms, for their generous volunteer support. Ken has chaired our research grants committee for the past five years. He served on the recent long range planning committee. Frank chaired the latest nominating committee. He has written for The Chronicle and provided programming to our annual meeting. Lisa has chaired our library committee. She has taken an active role in meetings with our executive director and several board members to develop future directions for our library resources.

REFLECTED AND NEW BOARD MEMBERS

After completing her first term, Linda Stanton was reelected. She has been leading our book sales program for eleven years. She is a North Carolina resident and is playing a strong role in planning for our next annual meeting, May 2005, in Charleston, South Carolina.

Welcome to our new board members: John Wells and Ted Kinsey. John, a resident of Berkeley, California, has attended our annual meetings and has regularly contributed articles to Shavings. Ted, a resident of Geneseo, New York, has written several articles for The Chronicle and was a prime organizer of our 2002 Annual Meeting in Rochester.

Our 2004 Board of Directors moves on, with impressive new officers and members. They have an incredibly diverse level of professional management, technical skills, and strong knowledge of early American industries. They have proven their commitment to EAIA through many years of membership and volunteer activities.
