Grants for substance abuse, mental illness
Juvenile Justice Digest, Jul 19, 2002
The Department of Labor has $2.5 million to fund five model demonstration programs designed to enhance the capacity of programs serving youth with disabilities, including those with psychiatric disorders and substance addiction.
Deadline is Aug. 12.
Nearly one-third of youth with disabilities drop out of school. Youth with emotional disabilities experience an even higher drop out rate of 54 percent.
The purpose of the program is to increase participation and improve results for at-risk young people with disabilities and to keep them employed and out of trouble.
