In late June, U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company (USSTC) donated a John Deere Trail Gator HPX 4 x 4 utility vehicle to the Jersey County Sheriff's Department/Emergency Services & Disaster Agency in Jerseyville, IL.

Jersey County was among a select number of law enforcement, fire fighting, emergency medical service, search and rescue, and wildlife conservation enforcement organizations across the nation considered for the USSTC National Trail Gator Donation Program. The company is donating Trail Gators to paid professional or volunteer agencies able to demonstrate how the vehicle would improve emergency response.

"Jersey County is home to the largest state park in Illinois with extremely rugged terrain," said Martin E. Andres, Chief Deputy Sheriff. "The Trail Gator will greatly enhance successful off-road search and rescue and assist in disaster relief operations."
