Summit, Sep 2004

March 5, 2004. In his article "Public-private health care... the Canadian way?" (Summit, March 2004) David Sauve seems to be suggesting that endless debate and inaction is the Canadian way. I believe that the Romanow Commission provided the Canadian public and Canadian governments [the opportunity] to explore the realities of our current health care system and allowed for the honest debate that Mr. Sauve is calling for (which makes me wonder where he has been for the past few years). We have the answers to the questions Mr. Sauve poses - a better question might be: Why aren't the Romanow Commision's recommendations being implemented?

June 23,2004.1 read with interest the "Greening the Games" article in the June issue of Summit, but was somewhat disappointed that it only referenced the Olympics. The "games" means Olympic and Paralympic Games. The author, Mr. Jedras, even mentions accessibility in his article, albeit rather briefly, but doesn't once mention the Paralympics. The 2010 Olympics are also mentioned in the article "Battering rams to pedometers," yet there is no mention of the Paralympics. Not all athletes with a disability are in a wheelchair - the pedometers could be used by athletes other then those in wheelchairs. If you go to the Vancouver 2010 website, the tag line says: "The official website of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games."
