Timed to coincide with the full introduction of Part III of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) - effective from 1st October 2004 - IR security & Safety has published a 16 page 'Architectural Hardware Design Guide'. The Guide will assist architects and designers specify the most appropriate products to help service providers meet the requirements of the DDA. The IR Design Guide refers to other regulations and codes of practice - such as Approved Document M of the Building Regulations and BS8300 ('Design of buildings and their approaches to meet the needs of disabled people') - as these have an impact on the decision making involved.

The Design Guide - which carries the prized 'CPD Assessed Material' seal of approval of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) - has recently been joined by two 'slimmed down' versions. The foldable 'Pocket Guide' and the A3-sized product selector, both act as quick reference guides to the key points of the DDA.

Copies of all guide formats are available from IR security & Safety by emailing info@irsecurityandsafety.co.uk
