NTF requests funding research

Beitsville, Md. - For fiscal year 2006, the National Turfgrass Federation again has requested funding for 12 turfgrass research positions with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service. The funding is for critical research outlined in the National Turfgrass Research Initiative.

To obtain the funding, the NTF filed statements with the Senate and House Agriculture Appropriations subcommittees. Additionally, the NTF and members of the turfgrass industry contacted Senate and House members asking for their support. The turfgrass industry also requested restoration of the $760,613 in ARS turfgrass research funding not in the president's proposed budget.
