XVII Lamp Lighting Ceremony - 2003

The auspicious Lamp Lighting Ceremony for the XVII batch of B.Sc. Nursing students of College of Nursing, Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Paramedical Sciences, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, was held on 29^sup th^ January 2003. Prof. Mrs. Seethalakshmi, The Principal, welcomed the gathering Prof. Mrs. Susheela Packianathan, Dean, C.S.I. Jeyaraj Annapackiam College of Nursing, Madurai lit the Lamp and passed it to Dr. Subhadra, and Smt. Vatsala Jaganathan, SNR. Sons Charitable Trust, and then to the students. The new students took the Nightingale's pledge led by Prof. Mrs. K. Emmanuel.

The Vice-Chancellor of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, Dr. C.V. Bhirmanadham in his Chief Guest address stressed that the secret of success is self introspection and developing confidence in performing nursing activities. The Guest of honour Prof. Mrs. Susheela Packianathan, in her inspiring message to the students said that Lamp Lighting is a commitment and graduation is an achievement. Sevarantna, Dr. R. Venkatesalu, Managing Trustee, S.N.R. Sons Charitable Trust, in his presidential address added that competent a nurse should possess the qualities of confidence and competence. Dr. S. Manoharan, Chief Cardiologist, Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, felicitated the students. The programme concluded with a vote thanks delivered by Prof. Mrs. Elizabeth Jean Abraham, Vice-Principal.
