Lamp Lighting Ceremony

The Lamp Lighting ceremony for the 2002 and 2003 batch of B. Sc. (Nursing) and Diploma Nursing students of Sacred Heart Nursing College, Ultra Trust Madurai was held on 21s1 February 2003. Mr. Kamatchinathan, Principal, welcomed the dignitaries and others present. Prof. Mrs. Nalini Gopalakrishnan Principal College of Nursing gave the presidential address. Felicitation was given by Prof. KR. Arumugam, Correspondent, Ultra Trust and Dr. Balakrishna Rao, Dean, Govt. Rajaji Hospital, Madurai.

Chief Guest, Mrs. Eben Baskaran, Nursing Superintendent, Leprosy Mission Hospital, lit the lamp and said that each nurse should be competent in her career. The new students took the Nightingale's pledge led by Prof. Mrs. Sheiba Edwin, Vice- Principal.

Laxminarayana School of Nursing, Dharmapuri, celebrated Lamp Lighting ceremony, on 16th November 2002. SNA Secretary Miss R.Jothilaxmi welcomed the guests. Miss. Shantha Bai, Principal presented the college report.

The Chairman Mr Rajasekar and Mr. Saravanan appreciated the students for choosing this noble profession and stressed on the need of devotion and dedication. Miss Shantha Bai, Principal emphasized on hard labour for a successful career. Mr. N. Rajasekar lit the lamp and then passed on to the staff members and students. An Introduction to Nursing Message was presented by Miss. K. Sasirekha, Joint Secretary SNA. It was followed by cultural programme by the students.

Lourdes School of Nursing, Holy Cross Hospital, Kottiyam, Kollam, Kerala, conducted its 43rd Lamp Lighting Ceremony on 25-05-2003.49 GNM Students formally took the oath and dedicated themselves to the profession of nursing.

The Chief Guest Rev. Fr. Joseph Sugun inaugurated the function and emphasized the importance of nursing care tempered with compassion. Rev. Sr. Ida Mularickal, Co-ordinator of Education, stressed on the need for holistic care to patients.

Rev. Sr. Gabriela Illickal, Principal and the SNA Advisor Kerala State along with Rev. Sr. Emilia, Vice Principal passed the lighted lamps to the students, followed by reciting of the Nightingale's Pledge. Rev Sr. Fides Thottan, felicitated the students.

The Ansar School of Nursing, Perumpilavu, Kerala celebrated the Lamp Lighting Ceremony of second batch of Nursing students on 25.05.2003. Mr. Hari Krishnan Nambiar, Principal, Texcity College of Paramedical Sciences, Coimbatore was the chief guest. Prof. E. Mohamed, Director, Ansar Hospital in his presidential address highlighted the importance of Nursing Education.

Ms. Thresiamma Mathew, Principal incharge administered the Nurses' Pledge to the freshers. Apart from students, many parents also attended the function. Vote of thanks was given by Ms. Nisha U.A., Tutor of the Nursing School.
